I feel good knowing that when I buy handmade gifts directly from an artist or from an independent retailer this holiday season, I am supporting families in my community. I like supporting my local economy!
I make most of my gifts for my friends and family, but the ones that I do buy are from my local craft shows. Luckily, here in Detroit we have some amazing events: Noel Night, Youtique, Detroit Urban Craft Fair {DUCF}, DIYpsi and Flint Handmade.
Don’t forget about out our local indie retailers: Naka, Yellow Door Art Market, Rustbelt Market, Mio Dio, Kitty Deluxe, Nest, Michigan Artisans, Goods, Detroit Artist Market… {any I’ve left out? please share in the comments!}
I promise I will inspire and entice you with some some fun ideas for gifts {and decor!} that you can make and buy in this year’s Holiday shopping {and making} guide. It will be out on Black Friday.
{have an indie business and wanna be featured?}
So please sign my pledge to give handmade gifts this year. Support your local community by shopping indie this holiday season!
